Pocono Environmental Education Center Receives $10,000 Grant

(Wyomissing, Pa.) – PennEast Pipeline Company presented the Pocono Environmental Education Center with a $10,000 grant this week as part of the PennEast Powering STEM Education Initiative.  To date, the PennEast Powering STEM Education Initiative has invested over $170,000 to more than a dozen schools and nonprofit organizations across New Jersey and Pennsylvania to enhance access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) educational opportunities.

“PennEast is proud to support the Pocono Environmental Education Center, which provides invaluable STEM enrichment opportunities for students across New Jersey and Pennsylvania,” said Pam Witmer of PennEast Pipeline Company. “Increasing access to STEM education through the Pocono Environmental Education Center’s STEM program will strengthen our future workforce and grow our economic advantage.”

The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) will utilize the PennEast grant to expand PEEC’s STEM Program. PEEC’s STEM Program, which serves fourth through eighth graders, will give 200-300 additional students access to STEM enrichment opportunities for the 2017-2018 academic year in Lambertville, New Jersey, and across communities, such as Nazareth, Upper Nazareth, Kintnersville, and Pittston, in Pennsylvania.

“The Pocono Environmental Education Center is committed to expanding STEM enrichment opportunities to hundreds of students across New Jersey and Pennsylvania,” said Jeffrey Rosalsky, Executive Director of PEEC.   “We would like to thank PennEast for their generous PennEast Powering STEM grant which will enable us to reach more young people.”

Through the PennEast Powering STEM Education Initiative and Community Connector Grant Program, PennEast has provided more than $770,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations, first responders and STEM programs.
