Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership and Stockton Fire Company Receive $5,000 Grants
(Wyomissing, Pa.) – The PennEast Pipeline Company presented two first responder organizations, the Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership and the Stockton Fire Company in Hunterdon County, with $5,000 grants this week as part of its Community Investment Program. To date, the Community Investment Program has invested more than $600,000 in local, non-profit organizations making a difference in their communities.
“PennEast is proud to support the hardworking first responders of the Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership and Stockton Fire Company who are keeping Mercer and Hunterdon County families safe each and every day,” said Pam Witmer of PennEast Pipeline Company. “PennEast is committed to building partnerships with first responders who are devoted to public safety like we are. That is why we are helping organizations like Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership and Stockton Fire Company purchase much-needed equipment that will help keep their communities safe and allow them to perform their duties safely and effectively.”
The Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership’s mission is to organize a regional, multi-agency, coordinated rapid response in emergency situations. The organization provides training and resources to ensure readiness and also coordinates response and deployment in times of crisis. PennEast’s Community Connector Grant will assist the Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership in purchasing police and emergency medical service equipment.
“I would like to thank PennEast for their generous Community Connector Grant,” said Lt. Danny Mohr of the West Windsor Township Police Department and Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership. “The Mercer County Rapid Response Partnership is dedicated to coordinating rapid response in emergency situations throughout the region. This grant will allow us to purchase critical police and emergency medical service equipment, which will help us respond to situations quickly and efficiently.”
The Stockton Fire Company is a volunteer organization that covers Stockton Borough, as well as parts of Delaware and Kingwood townships. PennEast’s Community Connector Grant will help Stockton Fire Company purchase an ATV unit and patient transport skid unit, which will enable first responders to deliver help as quickly as possible even in off-road terrain that is inaccessible by traditional vehicles.
“It’s all about preparedness for emergencies within the community that we serve,” said Chief Rick Hendricks of the Stockton Fire Company. “As an all-volunteer organization, the Stockton Fire Company relies heavily on fundraising events and donations from within the community, both of which are on a downward trend in recent years. The company works diligently each year to plan for current and future needs, always keeping the community we serve and the safety of our firefighters at the forefront. Thanks in part to the PennEast’s Community Connector Grant, we will be able to purchase important ATV equipment that will give us off-roading capabilities, as well as the ability to transport patients and fight fires in remote areas along the many trails in our service area along the Delaware River. In addition, our communities have seen significant flooding in recent years, and this new vehicle would be a vital part of operations before, during and through the recovery phases of those situations as well.”
Established in 2014, the PennEast Community Investment Program has invested more than $600,000 to local organizations across New Jersey and Pennsylvania to support communities along PennEast’s proposed pipeline route.
