(Palmerton, Pa.) – Today, PennEast Pipeline Company presented the Palmerton Veterans Memorial a PennEast Community Connector Grant of $3,000. The Palmerton Veterans Memorial Committee will be using the grant for a new 80-foot flagpole at the entrance to Palmerton, just off route 248.
“We’re grateful for PennEast’s contribution which will enable us to erect a flagpole at the entrance to the borough,” said Edward Moyer of the Palmerton Veterans Memorial Committee. “Soon, we will fly a 20-foot by 38-foot American flag that was presented to the community by Palmerton native Sgt. Maj. Daniel Dailey. This flag was flown over Saddam Hussein’s Palace in Iraq after his capture.”
Representatives of PennEast Pipeline Company visited the Palmerton Veterans Memorial today to thank the Memorial Committee for its service and formally present them with their grant.
“We are humbled to visit and offer our sincerest support to the Palmerton Veterans Memorial,” said Pam Witmer of PennEast Pipeline Company. “The Palmerton Veterans Memorial reflects thousands of local residents who can’t be thanked enough for their bravery. The grant is a small token of our gratitude.”
PennEast has contributed more than $400,000 through its Community Connector Grant Program to communities along the proposed PennEast Pipeline route. Through its grant program, sponsorships and volunteer efforts, PennEast is committed to supporting local organizations like the Palmerton Veterans Memorial.
